I’m not usually one for primers, especially mattifying primers. I have dry skin so I usually apply a super hydrating moisturizer before I put on my foundation and skip the primer. But if there’s one primer I’m crazy over, it’s this: Benefit‘s The POREfessional! I’m always happy with Benefit products, so I figured this was definitely worth a try. This lightweight cream goes on and leaves a very velvety smooth finish; you can almost tell that your pores aren’t going to show once you put your foundation on! After I applied my foundation over ThePOREfessional, my skin looked downright flawless. Not a pore in sight, and here’s the really incredible part: I didn’t even need to use a setting powder!!
This would be an ideal product for those of you with oily skin and large pores… What a difference! I’m very impressed with this balm. Even if you don’t have a problem with your pores, or your pores are very small, that’s even better! They become virtually erased off of your face… And if you do deal with large pores, this stuff will drastically minimize their appearance. As we know, there’s no way to actually “shrink” your pores, but ThePOREfessional is my pick for the best pore-tackling product!
Oh, and don’t let the color in the photo throw you off: These don’t come in different colors, and it goes on completely sheer.

hi! My favorite moisturizer that I use every day is the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer. It’s very rich, perfect for my dry skin

Hi Teni!
I absolutely adore your blog.. I can tell it’s a template blog site, would you mind sharing, which company/template name it’s from? My mom does a fashion blog and I would love to get it for her! Thank you!

it’s a WordPress template called Sight, but I’ve customized it a lot so it doesn’t look much like the original

I got a nice sample of this from a recent Sephora purchase. I will be sure to try it! I’ve been using the Neutrogena Mattifying primer. It has worked better than any other expensive product, but this Benefit primer sounds great. Thanks for the review!

Curious.. Do you like this one better than the Laura Mercier primer??
Teni Panosian says:

The Laura Mercier Primer has always been my favorite; that one goes on more like a hydrating moisturizer and gives a slightly more dewy finish when you put on your tinted moisturizer/foundation. This one makes your skin completely matte and fills in all the pores and fine lines so your foundation will go on looking super smooth. So for different reasons I like them both a lot! If you’re dry, maybe stick with the LM primer, but if you have an issue with pores or oiliness, go with the POREfessional.

Have you tried Too Faced “Primed and Poreless”? Do you find Benefit’s to be better?

I’ve never tried the Too Faced primer, but I have to say Benefit’s definitely gets my stamp of approval! I would highly recommend it.

Any advice for someone who wants to try a beauty/fashion blog?

Yes… Be patient!! That’s the hardest part. It takes consistent work and patience to make it happen
If you’re committed to putting up honesty, quality work, people will take notice and become followers! And try to make relationships with as many brands and PR companies as you can, that will help lots. Good luck!

Hey Teni..I really love ur work! I have a question: is it true that primer clog the pores if used daily? with all the silikon in it? I have oily/ combination skin and eventhough I use high end foundations my makeup looks cakey and uneven after some hours. I would love to give this primer a try, but am afraid that i will get breakouts if I use it daily. Thanks in advance

Good question! Yes, anything that’s silicone-based is likely to clog your pores if used too much. So if you’re looking for something that’s not silicone-based, the Laura Mercier Oil Free Primer is one that I’ve been using for years and I love it. Great for daily use and very lightweight.

I have dry skin as well and I’m alway afraid of not setting my makeup cause of staying reasons but I look even more dry. Do you set your makeup with anything or just out the door? If so any recommendations? Btw I use the too faced amazing face close up coverage foundation

Since I have dry skin, I usually will just put on my foundation without a setting powder. The only time I’ll actually use a setting powder is if I’m going heavier with the makeup (usually at night). I love the Ben Nye banana powder, it’s perfect for my complexion and it never looks cakey, just really smooth and matte.

Hi Teni! I’ve actually tried this quite a few times with the same horrible result. It did not help my makeup application at all! I have oily/combo skin and wear the Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation.
Just didn’t work for me and I wanted to love it!
