The other night I was flipping through my Glamour magazine and came across a few beauty picks available at Walmart. I frequently get requests for tutorials using more affordable makeup, so I’m always on the hunt for good makeup that’s easy on the pocket book! One thing in particular caught my eye on the page, though: A beautiful blush/nude lipstick by the name of Flower. I started doing some research on the brand and discovered it’s Drew Barrymore’s makeup line! Already I loved it. So the next morning I drove out to Walmart to get my Flower fix!
Here’s what I picked up:
Skincognito Stick Foundation in SF5
Color Play Creme Eyeshadow in Awesome Blossom
Long Wear Eyeliner in Black
Kiss Stick Velvet Lip Color in Petal Kiss
Sheer Up Lip Tint in LC1 (Bare Blush)

Using everything but the Sheer Up Lip Tint, I created this soft spring look. I have to say I’m very impressed with the Skincognito Stick Foundation: It’s got a nice medium coverage to it, but it goes on so smoothly and doesn’t feel heavy at all. Usually stick foundations tend to be either too creamy or too heavy, but this one is just perfect! I might even pick up a lighter shade and a darker shade for highlight and contouring, I’m simply obsessed with this foundation!
After trying the Kiss Stick Velvet Lip Color, I’m convinced I have to get every color! I ended up getting Petal Kiss, which is exactly that gorgeous color I saw in the magazine; it’s got a velvety matte finish, but my lips stayed soft and hydrated all day long. I had a tough time deciding whether to wear the lipstick or the lip tint, because the lip tint is beyond beautiful. It’s got a slightly glossy finish, and the Bare Blush color is the absolute perfect shade of pink for youthful lips! It’s just the right lip product for everyday use.
Here’s the best thing about Flower: No animal testing! It’s really tough to find an affordable line of makeup that’s both good in quality and ethics… Brava, Drew Barrymore!

Gorgeous look Teni; I just read up on the Flower brand yesterday after seeing one of the youtube gurus do a review on some of the products. The whole concept behind the brand seems very impressive, and so do their product range and colors. I’ll have to make sure I check it out in store as I’d love to try their lip products especially.

Kind of unrelated question but I am a makeup junky to the max. I know I have way more then I could possibly ever use and I was wondering if you had any tips or experience with what to do with lightly used makeup that you no longer want? I just feel terrible having it sit in my makeup drawers not being used at all. I have heard women’s shelters sometimes take lightly used makeup but I just wanted to know if you have any other tips so I can clear some stuff out! Gives me anxiety haha.
Thank you!!

I’m a big proponent for charity and helping others, so if the makeup is lightly used and a women’s shelter will take it, that’s the best thing to do with them! You can share anything except things like eyeliner and mascara just because there’s so much risk of transferring bacteria with products so close to your eyes. Here’s something else I do: I share with my mom and my best friend! My mom doesn’t really go out of her way to get makeup, so she loves it when I give her my stuff! And if you’re worried about bacteria at all, here’s a tip: For any of your powder products (blush, eyeshadow, etc.) you can put rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle and just give the powder a spray. Obviously it will become wet and slightly muddy in texture, so try not to touch it when it’s in this state… but it’ll dry in just about an hour so let it sit. That should clear you of any person to person bacteria transfer.

I heard you say in one of your videos that you have dry skin…I do too and one of my biggest problems is that when I retouch my makeup in the evening it starts to show and my face starts looking a little cracked…Do you have that problem or any suggestions?

yes that happens to me sometimes, and it usually means I need a good exfoliation!! But when I use my ORG mineral peel it scrubs off all the dead, dry skin and immediately after I put on a moisturizer so it seals in the hydration. When I put my makeup on after this process it never cracks or flakes.

‘Brava’ is used when referring to a female. ‘Bravo’ is for a male

Love this look and I love Drew Barrymore! Thanks for posting. How did you apply the stick foundation? I’ve never used it in stick form, so a couple of how-to options would be fantastic.

I can do a how-to on applying the stick foundation, that’s a great idea! Stay tuned
