BEST. EXFOLIANT. EVER.

One of the most common questions I get here and on YouTube is about my skin. And if you know me, you know I take very good care of it! I’ve searched high and low for the best skincare products and, of course, I share them with you all. I want to make sure I’m recommending only the best of the best, (in every price range, that is) and this one is right at the top of my list: Kate Somerville’s ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment. I tried this product a long time ago and absolutely loved it; I’ve used it in phases ever since, but I think I’m going to stick to it for good!

It just makes my skin unbelievably smooth. It’s as if I just peeled off a layer of my skin and grew a brand new and healthy canvas. I compared my own experience with ExfoliKate with the reviews of other satisfied fans, and one word we all had in common was glow. This stuff makes your skin glow! It just brings a brightness to my face that I haven’t seen with any other product.

With ExfoliKate, you have to be sure you read the instructions carefully: Unlike most exfoliants, ExfoliKate is not technically a scrub. It has the consistency of one, but here’s how you use it: Cleanse your face, but don’t pat it dry. Leave it wet and apply a small amount of ExfoliKate to your skin and begin massaging in circular motions for about 30 seconds. Once that’s done, just let it sit for a couple minutes while the enzymes and acids go to work brightening and beautifying your skin. You might feel a slight tingling sensation while you wait, (if you’re not used to exfoliating or using products with any type of acid in them, you may feel it more. It might even get uncomfortable; if that’s the case, simply rinse it off and follow with a light moisturizer) and then just rinse and pat dry. I ended up getting a sample of the Kate Somerville retinol cream with my purchase, so I applied that after. A great option to follow with is 100% pure argan oil to sooth your skin and kick up the moisture.

This powerful product is a bit on the pricey side (a 2 oz. tube will run you about $85) but the great thing is that it comes in a smaller size for just $22! It’s a great chance to try it out before committing to a hefty price tag. The mini size will get you anywhere from about eight to twelve uses depending on how much you use each time.

Hey Teni! Loving your posts as always 🙂 I know you highly recommend the Josie Maran argan oil, but I was wondering if you’ve tried out any of the other products in her line, namely the Serum Foundation? I’m very yellow also and I find that most of those skin matching foundations tend to look way too pink on my skin after a few minutes. Thanks!

    • I have to agree with you about the ‘skin matching’ foundations, I stay away from them because they are almost always pink. I haven’t tried the Serum Foundation, I will have to add that to my list of products to try! I can tell you that the Josie Maran lip products are awesome as well, but I’ve yet to try the majority of her line.

I was wondering if you still use O.R.G’s organic face peel? I’m thinking about purchasing it and I know you recommended it but wasn’t sure what the results were for long term use.

    • I do still use it a couple times a month as a more natural alternative to the more harsh chemicals I sometimes use. This product (the Kate Somerville) for example, would be too harsh for you. (I believe you commented earlier that you have sensitive and eczema prone skin?) Definitely skip this product, but the ORG should be a great option for you. Again, just to be 100% sure, I would run the ingredients by a dermatologist just in case. 🙂

Awesome! Thanks! My skin is actually really sensitive to what I eat, especially sugar! I will definitely be purchasing the O.R.G face peel. I previously tried Dr.Gross peel pads and if I use it once or twice a week is fine but its irritating to my skin if I use it more often.
Thanks a lot for ur advice!!! Much appreciate it :).

And sry I didn’t answer your question. Yes my skin is on the sensitive side, although I have to exfoliate every single day!! And it is prone to eczema although its been fine for the last months.

Awesome review! Question, how often do you use this product? Weekly? Daily? Thanks for your answer!!

    • Weekly 🙂 Sometimes I’ll go longer than even a week and just use it when my face feels like it needs a good treatment! But definitely not more than once a week.

Wow I just have to say your blog and youtube videos are awesome!!!!! And your absolutely gorgeous as well!! My question for you is that I have these blackheads on my nose and they just wont go away, and I have very dry skin as well I think I have used everything possible. I hate using biore strips because they don’t do anything but make me even more dry. Also I use scrubs and I have a clarisonic as well. I feel like I have tried everything..so if there is anything maybe you could tell me that I could try I would greatly appreciate it 🙂 thank you so much!

    • Have you ever tried a retinol product? I don’t talk about it much because it’s a fairly harsh product that most people are put off by, but these days they come in much more mild formulas. (For example, Neutrogena makes a serum and moisturizer with retinol in it.. it’s effective, but it doesn’t come with the same side effects like dryness, redness, and peeling that you get with the first few weeks of retinol use.) Continue using the Clarisonic every day and concentrate on your nose area, but I think the retinol products might be worth a shot. And maybe consider, if possible, getting a facial so they can really clean out the pores and you can have a fresh start!
