Lately I’ve been browsing the Sigma website quite a bit and I just had to pick up a few new items!!

Sigma Beauty

I’ve had my eye on the Sigma ‘Precision’ brushes; I’m all about creating a flawless face, and these brushes allow you to create precise contours and highlights as necessary. I picked up the P84 Precision Angled with the intention of using it as an under eye concealer brush (the density of the brush is perfect for laying down a nice opaque concealer), but I found another use for it: You know how I love to contour the crap out of my nose?? This brush is the perfect tool for just that. I’m able to create extremely detailed contours without lookingย stripy. I’m so happy with this brush! I just might explore more of the Precision line…

Of course I had to pick up the highly touted Sigma Eye Shadow Base. I hadn’t tried them yet so I picked up just one to see if I’d like it. The verdict?? I LOVE it. First of all, the color I got is beautiful for brown eyes. I bought Pose; it’s a chocolatey taupe shade with just the slightest hint of shimmer. I actually wore the base by itself with just eyeliner and mascara, and it looked like a complete, polished look! It’s the perfect color to use if you want to create something more dramatic but don’t want to put too much extra time and effort into it. I think I’ll pick up a few more colors, too!

Lastly, I was really curious about the Sigma Brow Pencil. Their version comes in a two sided pencil: One side is a bit darker, meant for medium to dark hair, and the other side is a lighter ash color for light/medium hair. For me, this pencil is genius! I actually ended up using both sides; For the ends of my eyebrows, I typically need the color to be a bit darker so that it actually shows and makes my eyebrows appear longer. But for the areas above my eyebrows and closer to the inner corners, I don’t want such a harsh color because it makes the brows far too strong. This way, I was able to use the darker color on my ends, and the lighter color to softly fill in the inner parts of my brows and it worked wonderfully. I also like the consistency of the pencil, they’re perfect for brows.

How does the Sigma eyeshadow base compare to the MAC Paint Pots? ๐Ÿ™‚ I want to know what you think before I buy one.

    • It’s definitely lighter in texture, it’s not quite as heavy as the MAC paint pots. I tend to like this because I’m not having to pull and tug at my eyelids so much! I wore it yesterday starting at around noon and got home about 9pm, and the eye makeup had stayed put, so it’s definitely comparable to the Paint Pots in that way. My biggest complaint about the paint pots was the lack of colors to choose from, so I’m loving that Sigma has more!!

Hi teni!! ill start off by saying that i love your blog and your makeup+hair tips! i started highlighting my hair recently and am getting freaked out about breakage and dryness. I thought i should probably start using a weekly hair (protein) mask.. the reviews i read online haven’t done me much good.. do you have any recommendations as to which one to try? thanks!!

    • ohhh you’ve come to the right place, I’m the queen of damaged hair from coloring/bleaching lol. I’ve got a comprehensive video coming up on how i take care of my hair and how I restored its health! It’ll be up in about 2 weeks ๐Ÿ™‚ Here’s a preview, though: Shampoo and conditioner have more to do with it than you might think!

    Hi Teni,

I have 2 questions- what is a good setting powder for my makeup? I have tried so many and sometimes after only 2 hours my nosy is super shiny, any recommendations? So a good setting powder n possibly something to get the oil under control, help please!!!

    • First, I’d recommend trying a foundation specifically made for oily skin. A GREAT one is the Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation, you can find it at Sephora. Also, I’ve been using the Ben Nye Luxury Powder and it’s the best setting powder!! I use the banana color… These two recommendations should do it ๐Ÿ™‚

Would you recommend this eyebrow pencil over Anastasia’s powder version, for every day use?

    • for quick, everyday use, the pencil is much easier! You’re not having to dip the brush into the powder repeatedly to apply. This way just make the marks you need and you’re out the door ๐Ÿ™‚ thanks for the question, bff ๐Ÿ˜‰
