Last night marked a pretty sweet milestone for Quiksilver: The first ever Quiksilver Women’s store! The brand new shop is appropriately located in beautiful Malibu, CA, where “California cool” is not just a look, it’s a lifestyle.

The store itself is a showstopper: Keeping consistent with Quiksilver’s surf culture, you’ll find boards and beach art among the endless selection of dresses, swimsuits, sandals, sunglasses, and more. In addition to the dozens of awesome pieces, I can’t say enough about the layout and the decor… This isn’t your typical clothing store where you pop in, browse a few minutes, and take off. I could spend hours (and lots of money, ha!) in there just enjoying not only the top-notch threads, but also the stories and diagrams on the walls of how some of their clothes were made. I always appreciate a brand that invites their customers into the process to see how their products are developed; if it’s special to them, it’s special to us.

For me, the highlight of the evening was the blessing of the store: Quiksilver invited members of the Chumash (originally settled in the Malibu/Santa Monica area) to do a traditional blessing, which left me overwhelmed… I had to try so hard not to cry!! It was one of the most beautiful and touching experiences I’ve had.

With delicious treats from Café Habana and live tunes from Kevin Miso, it was a celebration you could only find in coastal Malibu! Be sure to visit the new Quiksilver Women’s store at the Malibu Lumber Yard:
