Skincare is paramount in my book: If your skin doesn’t look good, chances are your makeup isn’t going to look good either. It’s important to take the extra time at bedtime and during your morning routine ensure clean and conditioned skin! But, of course, the products you use will make all the difference. I just posted a skincare routine video on my YouTube channel, but I’m including some supplemental information here to really cover all the details of why and how I use each product.

Murad Clarifying Cleanser
The one and only acne cleanser I’ve ever approved of for my skin. It doesn’t dry out my skin and give it that super squeaky clean feel; it leaves my skin feeling supple and refreshed without stripping it. I always get this (good) tingling feeling after I cleanse with this stuff, too. It’s got calming agents like green tea extract, and it’s just an altogether solid cleanser.

Murad Age Reform Time Release Retinol Concentrate
Meant for deep wrinkles, I use a bit more of this stuff than intended to hit both those wrinkle prone areas as well as my acne prone areas. Retinol tackles both wrinkles and acne, but I like using Murad’s version because Dr. Murad’s philosophy on skincare is so meaningful and really caters to healthy skin from the inside out. So I prefer to use his line of retinol products because I’m confident that all the ingredients in them will promote healthier skin.

Muradย Complete Reform
Another stellar retinol product from Murad. Instead of spot treating, this one goes all over my face! It’s a bit of a lighter formula than the retinol concentrate, but with each of these retinol products there are other ingredients in them that sooth and calm skin. This one has oat flour, olive oil, and lavender oil among other ingredients to provide extra comfort to skin since it’s receiving a product (retinol) that’s rather harsh. It’s the perfect blend of ingredients to balance skin and leave it soft and healthy.

Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation Creme
One of my longtime favorites! I rave about this product and yet I can’t quite put into words what it does for my skin. It’s at the same time refreshing and moisturizing; it gives my skin that suppleness that I almost always feel like I’m missing when I don’t use this stuff. It’s different from any cream I’ve ever used, and I think that’s because it sinks right into my skin as soon as I apply it. No residue, just softer skin.

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster
I neeeeeed vitamin C for my skin! It just gives me a healthy glow, and who doesn’t want that? This one not only packs Vitamin C that promotes natural collagen production, but it also fights free radicals from the everyday elements we face. Again, another product that absorbs instantly and also immediately brightens up my face.

Murad Essential-C Day Moisture SPF 30
After I apply the truth serum, I always follow with my Murad day cream. I hang on to this stuff for dear life, it’s simply the best day cream and SPF I’ve ever used. It brightens, it gives me a dose of vitamin C, it hydrates well, and it does all of this without a trace. No greasy film, just a perfectly prepped face to wear bare or layer with foundation.

Ole Henriksen Lemon Strip Flash Peel
Of all the at-home peels I’ve tried (and I’ve tried a lot) this one is definitely my favorite. Warning: The first time you use it, it’s going to burn like hell. And this is coming from someone who has been using acid treatments for years! But once you get through the first time, every other time after feels just fine. If resurfacing is your issue, this is an excellent and very effective peel: It smooths out my skin just enough that there’s no down time but it makes some major improvements in texture.

    Do you take any supplements?

    • no. I prefer not to take any synthetic vitamins, instead I like to juice a lot and eat foods that are rich in the vitamins I need. If it became necessary, like if I had a deficiency or something, I wouldn’t be totally opposed to supplements, but for now I prefer not to take them.

I know you said if you haven’t used acids don’t try that peel out first. If I’ve used salyscliac acid for years does that count?

    • You know your skin best, so if you know you’re not that sensitive give it a patch test. If you go into a Sephora store they can test it out on you along your jawline and see if you can stand the acid. Another peel product that I have used and LOVED (in fact I don’t even know why I’m not using it anymore) is the Origins Brighter By Nature fruit acid peel. This also might burn a little (definitely less than the ole henriksen) but you can use this two or three times a week and it’s a very effective product.

  • We love Murad products at – great choice Teni!

Hi Teni, your skin is flawless. I have to ask, as I am over 30 now, do you do fillers or Botox? Or even lips? And someone you recommend in LA? I think I’d like to get the smile lines softened!

Have high hopes for this acne cleanser – my skin has gone crazy this season (winter for me) plus my hormones are the biggest part of my skin issues!! Too excited, thanks so much for this review xxxx
