POWDER POWER

When I think of the latest skincare innovations, Murad is one of the first names that comes to mind. I’ve received many of their new products to try, and so many times I’ve been amazed at how unique and well thought out each of them have been. One of the more recent products I’ve had a chance to try is the Transforming Powder Dual-Action Cleanser & Exfoliator which is, as the name says, a powder.

Indeed it’s a very different product from the usual creams, gels, and serums we’re used to. But I eagerly went to try the powder, hopeful that it would help improve my temperamental skin: I dumped a bit of the coarse powder into my palm and activated it with a little bit of water. I like to keep it more on the coarse and pasty side as opposed to more liquid so I’m pretty conservative with how much water I add. I then apply the mixture to my face and work it into my skin in circular motions, getting that gentle ‘scrub’ feeling. It’s the rinsing off part that had me delighted; considering this stuff has salicylic acid in it I expect it to give me that dry, squeaky clean feeling, but instead my skin felt supple and refreshed. Again, not surprised at all! With all Murad products, there’s a nice balance of what I call fighters and soothers: The soothing ingredients are perfectly woven into the mix to supplement the fighter ingredients (salicylic acid, retinol, among others). That’s what I truly appreciate about Murad products and I know I can count on each and every one of them to deliver that ideal balance.

This is an excellent product for those of us who need a little pick-me-up for dull skin, as well as those of us who deal with occasional breakouts and unevenness. If you happen to be looking for a very gentle scrub product, this might even be the one for you! As I said, I’m very impressed with how hydrated my skin feels after I cleanse with the Transforming Powder and rinse off… It’s something you have to feel to appreciate! And here’s a tip: You can also mix the powder in with your favorite cleanser. I tried it out with the Murad Clarifying Cleanser and it worked like a charm!

  • This sounds rrreally interesting, thanks for sharing!

  • I’ve never personally tried a powder cleanser and it’s something I probably would’ve never picked up off the shelf, but I really like the idea of mixing it in with a cleanser you already own! Might have to give this a go! x

We used Murad while I was in school for Aesthetics. That was over six years ago. The line has definitely expanded since then and I am eager to try the brand again. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
