REVIEW: PURE TRUTH MELTING CLEANSER

When it comes to makeup and skincare, the cleansing process is paramount. There are so many things to be concerned about: Is it going to remove all my makeup? Is it going to be gentle enough on my eyes? Will I lose lashes? Will my skin be stripped of moisture? I’m sure there are other concerns associated with cleansing your skin, which is why I am a total stickler for a solid facial cleanser!

Enter the Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Melting Cleanser: Just before it launched the Ole Henriksen team gave me a breakdown of the product and, after I’d heard what it does, I was already sold. I’ve used a number of other Ole Henriksen products over the last few years, so I was pretty confident I was going to love the Pure Truth Melting Cleanser. Especially considering it packs ingredients like Vitamin C, rose hips, and virgin cherry oil, I was pretty sure this was going to be a winner! It’s got a three step process to gently (but fully) cleanse the skin and leave it soft and hydrated: In the jar it looks like a gel until you start working it into your skin, at which point it gets to be more of an oil. I’m a huge advocate for cleansing oils because they really melt the makeup away. But what’s extra special about this cleanser is that after you’ve worked it into your face and your eye makeup, you add a bit of water into the mix, creating a milky consistency. If your concern with oil cleansers is that it’ll leave your skin feeling greasy, this is the stage where you can put those concerns to rest! It no longer feels like an oil; instead it turns into a very light milky liquid, after which you can move on to rinsing your face. Each and every time I use this cleanser I only have to use it one time and all my makeup, including waterproof mascara and eyeliner, slips right off.

And my skin post-cleanse? Totally soft and hydrated. My eyes are never irritated and the gentle process allows me to keep my lashes in tact! When you think about the makeup ‘melting’ off of your skin, it’s a much more gentle way to cleanse as opposed to lathering up and stripping the skin.

Oh yes, I love his products. I am using the Vitamin C serum and even though it is a oil and I have oily skin – it is working fabulous!

Until about 4 months ago, I was always really hesitant about oil cleansers since I have oily skin, but it really does an amazing job at removing all my makeup (waterproof mascara included). Such a fan of Ole Henriksen, so I’ll have to give this one a try too!

  • I used to stay away from oils because I have oily skin, but then I realized how good they can actually be for my skin type and now I LOVE them 🙂 This cleanser sounds lovely.

This product looks great! Teni – would you use this in lieu of your Murad Vit-C cleanser? I’m in the market for a new facial cleanser and am not sure which to purchase – or both!
