‘TIS THE SEASON…

Let’s face it: Deep, dark lipstick is reserved only for the autumn and winter months. With October upon us, now is a great time to dig up your bordeaux best! The classic dark red is always a great option, but this year, try something a little edgier… Like purple. It sounds crazy, but if you pick the right shade (and formula) you’ll end up with a pretty pout that’s sexy and classy. Here are my two favorites: If you’re looking for a gloss, and something that’s a bit more playful, try Illamasqua’s Intense Lip Gloss in Fierce. This is a beautiful and completely unoffensive shade of purple.ย While the idea of wearing purple lips might sound like it would be too much for you, this particular purple is just enough color to add a little moxie to your mouth.

If you want something a little more classic, go for the Clinique Different Lipstick in A Different Grape. I’ve been using this one for years and it’s the perfect blend of red and purple, making a beautiful burgundy color. It’s not glossy and it’s not matte, it’s just a nice satin finish.

Tip: With darker lipstick, if you’re choosing a matte finish, remember that it’s going to make your lips look thinner. If you’ve got a full set of lips, no worries… But if you’re worried you’ll draw attention to already-thin lips, pick a glossy shade that’ll make them appear fuller.

Looks great on you. This is bold and edgy and I don’t consider myself either. Went to Sephora to try Llamasqua and “Fierce” did not look good on me. I got “Move” and “Belladonna” instead. Thanks for introducing me to the brand. Doesn’t take much to give me an excuse to go to Sephora!

    • I’m glad you found colors that suit you!! Those are both great shades; one more neutral and the other a little more sassy ๐Ÿ™‚
